Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zaydi visited Mar Youssef Church in Baghdad’s Mansour district and met with Chaldean Church Patriarch Yunanis III Nona.
Zaydi congratulated Nona on his election as patriarch and stressed the need to strengthen Iraq’s national social fabric and promote coexistence among its communities.
He said Christians are an essential part of Iraqi society and invited Christian businesspeople living abroad to return to the country and contribute to economic, development and construction projects.
Patriarch Nona congratulated Zaydi on winning the confidence of the Iraqi Parliament and forming the government, and wished him success in his duties.
