U.S. President Donald Trump said in a social media post that enriched uranium will either be sent directly to the United States for processing and destruction, or destroyed at its location in coordination with Iran, which he described as his preferred option.
Trump said the process must be supervised by the International Atomic Energy Agency or an equivalent body. His statement drew attention for describing the uranium as nuclear waste.
How the operation, to be carried out under the U.S. nuclear program, will be financed has not been clarified. Iran's position on the matter also remains unclear.
