Iraq has brought back 352 Iraqi migrants who had entered Libya illegally, as Baghdad and Libyan authorities coordinated for a week to manage the case, Iraq’s acting chargé d’affaires in Tripoli, Ahmed al-Sahhaf, said. The move underscores ongoing consular efforts to track irregular migration cases involving Iraqis in Libya.
Al-Sahhaf said the process had been carried out in coordination with the relevant Libyan authorities over the past week. He added that work is continuing to determine the fate of other migrants.
The Iraqi Embassy in Tripoli is continuing to follow the situation through official channels, he said.
