FIFA Officially Recognizes Yunis Mahmoud as Iraq FA President

FIFA has officially approved the new leadership structure of the Iraq Football Association, confirming former national team captain Yunis Mahmoud as its president. The decision gives the new administration international legitimacy after Saturday’s election. FIFA announced the revised organizational chart on its official website and formally registered Mahmoud’s election as president. The 47-year-old won 38 votes in Saturday’s poll, defeating former president Adnan Dirjal, who received 20 votes. The third candidate, Ayad Bunyan, won one vote. Under the new leadership structure, Sarmad Abdulilah will serve as first vice president. Muhammed Nasser will be the second vice president. With FIFA’s approval, the new administration led by Mahmoud has now received formal international recognition.
