Baghdad Police Detain Man Who Falsely Reported His Own Theft

Baghdad’s Rusafa police commands opened an investigation after a man reported that his home had been robbed, only to find that the complaint was unfounded and that the theft had been carried out by the complainant himself. The case has been referred for legal action, and the suspect has been taken into custody. Police recovered 28 mithkal of gold, $4,000 and 2 million Iraqi dinars from the suspect. Investigators determined that the valuables and cash belonged to the suspect’s wife. The findings established that the theft report was fabricated, reversing the original complaint into a criminal case against the man who made it.
