Anbar official calls for Tribil border crossing to stay open 24 hours

Rutba district mayor Imad al-Rishawi in Anbar has called for the Tribil border crossing to remain open around the clock, saying trade traffic at the crossing has risen sharply in recent days. He said about 1,400 trucks now pass in and out of the crossing each day. Rishawi said import and export activity at the border has increased and work is continuing to organize procedures despite the heavy congestion. He added that the outdoor areas can handle the growing number of vehicles, but administrative procedures need to be accelerated to shorten waiting times. He also said continued coordination with the Jordanian side is important to enable 24-hour operations at the crossing and help ease the flow of trade.
