A new study has found that ordinary Wi-Fi routers, when paired with artificial intelligence, can identify people with high accuracy. The technology can determine who someone is even when they are not carrying an active electronic device.
The findings suggest that wireless networks do more than provide internet access and may create new privacy risks. Researchers say standard routers used in homes and workplaces could also have this kind of monitoring capacity.
