Zeydi and Masrour Barzani Discuss Border Posts, Oil Companies and Coordination

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Zeydi and Kurdistan Regional Government President Masrour Barzani met to review border gate administration, the Asycuda system and technical issues involving oil companies operating in the region, in a session that underscored the need for closer federal-regional coordination. The talks also covered the country’s overall situation and the main outstanding issues between Baghdad and Erbil.
The meeting examined in detail the management of border crossings and technical matters related to oil companies active in the area. Both sides stressed the importance of high-level coordination and cooperation between the federal government and the regional administration.
The two leaders agreed on the need to overcome technical problems and resolve existing obstacles within the framework of laws and the constitution. Zeydi said he attaches importance to solving problems in line with the goal of serving all citizens and said reaching an agreement that protects Iraq’s interests is a priority.
Barzani congratulated Zeydi on forming the new government after receiving a vote of confidence from the Iraqi Parliament. He said the cabinet has the support of the Kurdistan Regional Government and stressed the importance of a comprehensive constitutional solution to the technical disputes.
