EU Extends Russia Sanctions on Individuals and Entities Until May 2027

The European Union has extended restrictive measures against individuals and entities in Russia until 28 May 2027, keeping in place asset freezes, travel bans and financing restrictions tied to alleged human rights abuses and repression of democratic opposition. The sanctions list includes 72 people and 1 entity. The EU said those listed are linked to grave human rights violations, pressure on civil society and democratic opposition, and activities that undermine democracy and the rule of law. Under the measures, the assets of the listed individuals and entity are frozen, while EU citizens and companies are banned from making funds or financial resources available to them. The listed individuals are also subject to travel bans, which prevent entry into EU countries and transit through them. The EU said it continues to condemn human rights violations in Russia and remains deeply concerned about the human rights situation in the country in the context of Russia’s attacks on Ukraine.
