US Says DR Congo Team Must Observe 21-Day Ebola Isolation for World Cup

The US administration said the Democratic Republic of Congo national team must remain in isolation for 21 days in order to take part in the World Cup in Houston. White House official Andrew Giuliani said the team must begin the quarantine process from its training camp in Belgium to be eligible to compete. The move comes as the World Health Organization issued an international health alert over Congo's 17th Ebola outbreak. The country has recorded 82 cases and 7 deaths. Washington has also barred foreign nationals from entering the country if they have traveled to Congo, Uganda or South Sudan within the past 21 days. Officials said the restrictions may not apply fully to the team because it is currently in Europe.
