According to Reuters, the campaign had posted videos on its TikTok account the previous week featuring two Swift songs; the clips were later replaced with versions stripped of the music. Neither the White House nor representatives for the singer responded to requests for comment. The videos had paired Swift's music with political montages criticizing the policies of former President Joe Biden and then-Vice President Kamala Harris, including content on immigration and the U.S. southern border. One clip referenced Swift's "Red" album, linking the title to the color associated with the Republican Party, while tracks including "Everything Has Changed" and "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" were repurposed into political messaging. Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race and had previously criticized Trump during his 2020 campaign. Trump later targeted her on social media following her Harris endorsement. The dispute has drawn objections from dozens of other musicians, including Sabrina Carpenter and Ariana Grande, who have also challenged the Trump administration over unauthorized use of their work.
