Suspected drone grounds 26 landings at Munich Airport

MUNICH, Germany — Munich Airport blocked the landing of 26 aircraft after a suspected drone was detected in an incident that disrupted flight safety, according to the information provided. The airport’s runways were temporarily taken out of service while passengers continued to access the terminal and security checks went on. Flights were diverted to other airports, including Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, Linz, Salzburg and Leipzig. After operations resumed, aircraft waiting on the ground were due to take off in turn, with delays expected across services. The incident came during a period of heavy passenger traffic at the airport. It normally handles about 900 flights and 120,000 passengers a day.
