A Russian attack on Dnipro in eastern Ukraine hit a warehouse belonging to the UN Refugee Agency, destroying around $1 million worth of emergency shelter supplies and hygiene products. Two people were killed in the strike, which damaged humanitarian stockpiles intended for immediate relief use.
UNHCR's representative in Kyiv confirmed from Poland that the warehouse was destroyed on Wednesday. The facility held materials for urgent shelter needs as well as hygiene items.
The attack adds to the pressure on humanitarian operations in Ukraine as aid agencies continue to store and distribute emergency supplies in areas affected by the war. The destruction of the warehouse represents a direct loss of relief assets that were ready for deployment.
UNHCR did not provide further details on the extent of the damage beyond confirming the warehouse's destruction and the estimated value of the lost supplies.
