FIFA President Gianni Infantino has congratulated Yunus Mahmoud after his election as president of the Iraq Football Association, as the global football body updated Iraq’s new administrative structure on its official website. The announcement underscores the formal transition in Iraqi football leadership following last Saturday’s vote. Infantino’s congratulatory message was posted on his official Instagram account. FIFA also published the revised structure of Iraq football’s leadership, confirming Mahmoud as president. Under the updated lineup, Sarmed Abdülilah was appointed first vice president and Muhammed Nasır was named second vice president. The changes reflect the association’s new governing arrangement after the election. Yunus Mahmoud won the presidency with 38 votes in last Saturday’s election. Former president Adnan Darcal received 20 votes.
