AMARA, Iraq โ One person was killed and four others were wounded on Thursday when a tribal dispute reignited in the center of Amara, the capital of Maysan province, a local security source said. According to the source, the violence broke out in the Er-Risala neighborhood after armed men opened fire on each other, in what authorities linked to a long-running tribal feud.
Security forces established a wide security perimeter around the area, the source added. The wounded were transferred to a hospital under guard for treatment, while the body of the deceased was sent to the forensic medicine department for an autopsy.
Maysan Police Directoratesaid it had launched a broad investigation to determine the full circumstances of the incident and to detain those responsible. No further details were immediately available.
