One killed, another injured in two separate accidents in Kirkuk

KIRKUK, Iraq — A young man was killed and a woman was injured in two separate accidents in Kirkuk on Sunday, local sources said. In the first incident, Mustafa Aku, who worked at a carpet warehouse in the city's Hasir Market, suffered fatal injuries when a carpet roll fell on him. He was taken to hospital but died from his wounds, according to local sources. He was on duty at the warehouse when the roll toppled onto him. In a separate incident the same day at the Kirkuk courthouse, a 30-year-old woman was injured after falling from the second floor of the building. She had been at the courthouse following the trial of her husband and father, where a verdict was handed down, and was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Kirkuk. Her condition was reported as stable. Authorities have launched investigations into both incidents, the sources said.
