Iraqi parliament forms panel to probe whether government knew in advance of US–Saudi attack

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's parliament is to establish an investigative committee to determine whether the government had prior knowledge of a recent US–Saudi strike and whether it took necessary precautions, First Deputy Speaker Adnan Fihan said on Sunday. The directive was issued during the second legislative term, eighth regular session of parliament. The committee is required to report its findings within one week, according to the announcement. Separately, the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) issued a firm rejection of allegations made by certain politicians regarding PMF chief of staff Faly al-Fayadh, stating that the claims do not reflect reality. Meanwhile, Sadikoun parliamentary bloc head Adi Awad filed a formal request for the Prime Minister and security officials to be questioned next week.
