Donald Trump said the United States and Iran had made progress on ending a three-month war and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, but oil investors were waiting for concrete developments. Reports from Iran said contacts had been cut off because of Israeli attacks on Lebanon, an account Trump denied.
The U.S. military said it successfully repelled a series of Iranian missile and drone attacks in the Gulf on Tuesday and carried out what it described as self-defense strikes on Iranโs Qeshm Island. Centcom also said it shot down three attack drones launched from Iran toward civilian shipping.
