VIENNA — International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi said most of Iran’s nuclear activity has stopped because of the war. He said the conflict conditions and the targeting of the program had brought a fundamental change to any assessment of Iran’s nuclear work.
Grossi said no deal to end a nuclear conflict could be considered without strict verification and monitoring of its terms. He also pointed to the agency’s role in ensuring compliance with international standards in this sensitive area.
In the same context, Grossi praised the United Arab Emirates’ quick response to an Iranian attack on the Baraka nuclear plant and said the country provided the agency with technical and moral support.
The Emirati Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation had said earlier that a drone attack caused a fire in an electricity generator on the outer section of the facility. No further details were immediately available.
