Norwegian mother jailed for naming 13th child 'Gisher', Hebrew for 'bridge'

A mother in Norway has been sentenced to prison for refusing to pay a fine after authorities rejected the name she chose for her 13th child, according to British media reports. Kirsti Larsen said she selected the name Gisher, the Hebrew word for "bridge," after dreaming about it before the birth. Norwegian officials ruled the name too foreign under the country's naming laws and refused to register it. Larsen challenged the decision in court but was unsuccessful and was also fined.
