Iraqi security forces seize 2 kg of crystal meth in Baghdad and Diyala operations

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's National Security Service said on Wednesday that two separate anti-narcotics operations in Baghdad and Diyala led to the arrest of several drug dealers and the seizure of approximately 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine. According to the agency's statement, the first operation began at the Al-Lej checkpoint in Baghdad based on intelligence information and judicial approval. A drug dealer was taken into custody and later confessed to storing narcotics at his residence. A tactical team was dispatched to the address, where 1.5 kilograms of crystal meth were confiscated. In a second operation at the Al-Ghalibiyya checkpoint in Ba'qubah, the capital of Diyala province, two suspects — a man and a woman — were arrested. Authorities said approximately half a kilogram of crystal meth was found on them. The National Security Service did not provide further details on the suspects or the next stages of the investigation.
