Iraq says Development Road design work 95% complete

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Transport Minister Wahb al-Hasani met with the parliamentary Transport and Communications Committee on Tuesday to review progress on strategic infrastructure projects, the ministry said. The ministry reported that design work on the Development Road project has reached 95% completion, with technical and engineering stages proceeding according to the planned schedule. The meeting covered developments in logistics infrastructure, port connections and railway integration, according to the ministry's statement. The Transport Ministry said the project is being carried out to strengthen trade corridors and expand regional connectivity. Committee members received detailed briefings from the ministry on the project's implementation process, and both sides agreed to accelerate work and improve coordination, the statement said. Ministry officials told the committee that construction and tendering procedures will begin once the design phase is finished.
