BAGHDAD, Iraq — BAGHDAD — President Nizar Amidi said Monday that Iraq aims to strengthen stability, boost development and attract investment, with centralizing weapons under state control and combating corruption serving as core priorities of the reform process.
Speaking at the Delphi Forum in Sulaymaniyah, Amidi described the gathering as a dynamic dialogue platform bringing together figures from politics, economics and intellectual circles. He said Iraq seeks to become an attractive destination for projects and investment, as well as a secure region for international companies.
Amidi praised some armed groups for cooperating toward ensuring weapons belong solely to the state. He identified diversifying revenue sources, promoting investment and reinforcing a secure environment as key priorities.
The president called on Iraq's executive, legislative and judicial branches to act in concert to advance reform and development.
