BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali ez-Zeydi is expected to pay an official visit to Ankara at the end of July, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said. The ministry said the trip is intended to strengthen bilateral cooperation across political, economic and security files.
The announcement followed a meeting in Baghdad between Ambassador Layth al-Azzari, head of the ministry's Department of Neighboring Countries Affairs, and Turkish Ambassador Anıl Bora İnan. The two officials reviewed the political and logistical preparations for the visit and discussed issues of mutual interest, according to a ministry statement.
Both sides described the visit as an opportunity to advance Iraq–Turkey relations into a more cooperative phase and to deepen coordination on shared priorities, the statement said. Al-Azzari said expanding the strategic partnership between Baghdad and Ankara across multiple sectors would support regional stability and cooperation. The Turkish ambassador conveyed his country's willingness to broaden engagement with Iraq and elevate the bilateral relationship, according to the ministry.
