BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Ministry of Electricity said gas deliveries from the Daha field in the Kurdistan Region were halted due to security conditions, warning that a continued disruption could cost the national grid roughly 1,400 megawatts of generation capacity. Ministry spokesperson Ahmed Turki Jabad said an emergency plan had been drawn up to redistribute loads and bring available generation units online.
Officials said coordination was under way with relevant institutions to return production units to their natural operating capacity, and the ministry asked the public to use electricity sparingly during the disruption.
Separately, UAE-based Dana Gas announced it had temporarily suspended operations at the main production facilities of the Khor Mor gas field in Sulaymaniyah after receiving security threats. The Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Electricity said the security issues at Khor Mor had cut gas deliveries to its power stations, causing a 2,500-megawatt drop in generation.
The gas supply disruptions followed reports from the Kurdistan Region's Counter-Terrorism Service that it had intercepted a series of armed drone attacks over Erbil.
