BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Council of Representatives condemned a drone attack on the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and called on the federal government to take necessary measures. A statement from the parliament's presidency described the strike as a serious development targeting Iraq's sovereignty, the safety of its citizens and the stability of its institutions.
The parliament stressed that the security of the Kurdistan Region cannot be separated from that of Iraq as a whole, and asked federal authorities and relevant bodies to investigate the circumstances of the incident. Barzani said his office in Erbil was targeted by Iranian drones, describing the attack as a direct threat to Kurdistan's security.
The Kurdistan Region's Counter-Terrorism Directorate issued a statement confirming the strike. No further details on casualties or damage were immediately available.
