BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Deputy Oil Minister for Extraction Affairs, Nasser Aziz, said on Monday that the gas processing facility at the Halfaya field in Maysan province processes approximately 190 million standard cubic feet of associated gas per day. According to a statement from the minister's office, Aziz met with Petronas-Halfaya Company President Denk Minkemink to review production status and the field's development plans, with discussions covering projects to monetize associated gas and strengthen cooperation between the parties.
Aziz said the Halfaya gas processing project had reached 190 million standard cubic feet per day, within its design capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day targeted by early 2026. The processed gas is dispatched to official power stations in Amarah, Maysan investment power stations and Kahlal, and also supports the national electricity grid.
The Halfaya field, one of the largest oil fields in southern Iraq, produces around 400,000 barrels of oil per day. The ministry said it would continue to support projects targeting associated gas, citing their contribution to reducing gas flaring and strengthening energy security.
