Four Iraqi fishermen were rescued by the Iraqi Navy after their boat came under threat of sinking near the Basra Oil Port, in an operation that highlighted the force’s ongoing security and protection duties in the area. The rescue took place after an emergency call prompted a rapid response. The Navy Command said citizens on a fishing boat that was about to sink near the Basra Oil Port were pulled to safety. Acting on direct instructions from the Chief of the General Staff, the P-310 patrol boat, assigned to protection duty in the STS side-loading area, was dispatched to the scene. Crew members reached the fishing boat quickly and rescued the four Iraqi fishermen. Following the operation, the men received first aid at the scene. Officials said the fishermen were in good health and that none faced a life-threatening condition. The Navy said security and protection operations in the area are continuing.
