BAGHDAD, Iraq โ An Iraqi lawmaker has formally asked the Ministry of Education to investigate the discovery of leaked high school exam papers at Baghdad International Airport. MP Mikdad Carrah al-Haffaci sent an official letter to the ministry requesting a high-level inquiry commission under his chairmanship to determine how the material left secured custody.
According to the letter, airport authorities stopped a passenger on June 10, 2026, and seized notebooks and documents belonging to final-year secondary school exams. Among the materials were papers containing answers to questions that were supposed to remain confidential until the exams were administered.
Al-Haffaci called for the investigation to identify administrative and security failures and to pursue legal action against anyone found negligent or complicit. He also asked that the findings be submitted to parliament within the deadline set under Article 15/a of the amended Iraqi Parliament Law No. 13.
The Ministry of Education has not publicly responded to the request. No further details on the passenger or the seized materials were immediately available.
