Iraq's central bank disburses over 4 trillion dinars in loans in 2025

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Central Bank said it disbursed 4.195 trillion dinars in loans during 2025 under a 4 trillion dinar credit initiative. According to the bank's data, lending for large projects exceeding 1 billion dinars accounted for the largest share at 2.211 trillion dinars, while 249.6 billion dinars were directed to small projects. The bank said large-project financing flowed mainly to the trade and industrial sectors, while small-project loans went to services, industry, agriculture and trade. The initiative also included 5.6 billion dinars in concessional personal loans and funding for entrepreneurship projects. The Central Bank noted that further loan disbursements are underway, adding that overall financing volumes could increase as new allocations continue.
