Iraq's meteorology agency says no temperatures above 50°C expected Friday

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Authority said temperatures across the country will hold at current levels from Friday, with no highs expected to exceed 50 degrees Celsius. In its forecast, the authority said Friday will be mostly clear, with light to moderate northwesterly winds reaching up to 30 kilometers per hour in the eastern parts of the southern region during daytime hours. Saturday's weather is also expected to be clear, with light to moderate northwesterly winds and temperatures similar to Friday's, the authority said. Sunday will remain clear with occasional cloud cover in the south, and winds shifting direction to blow lightly. On Monday, intermittent cloud cover is forecast in the central and southern regions, with temperatures across the country set to rise by a few degrees compared to Sunday. The authority recorded Friday's highest temperatures at between 41 and 49 degrees Celsius.
