BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The Iraqi Health Ministry said it has identified individuals and groups exerting pressure on doctors in several emergency rooms and hospital units, and that legal action will be taken against them. The ministry said the work is being carried out in coordination with the relevant security authorities, and that those threatening physicians or trying to obstruct them from performing their duties have been identified.
The ministry warned that such pressure and threats directly endanger patients' lives. It added that identified individuals will face legal proceedings under the applicable legal framework.
Ministry officials said cooperation with security agencies will continue to ensure the safety of medical staff and prevent disruption of emergency services, and that additional measures will be strengthened to deter further incidents. The ministry also said its existing reporting channels remain open for citizens and medical personnel to report such cases. No further details on the identified individuals or the locations involved were immediately available.
