BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Fire crews brought a fire at a six-story commercial-residential building in the capital under control on Sunday, Baghdad's Civil Defense Directorate said. The fire was concentrated on the sixth floor, which was used as a commercial storage area, according to the statement.
Teams were dispatched to the scene after the initial report and reached the sixth floor using vehicles equipped with modern hydraulic ladders. Firefighters worked directly to extinguish the blaze while families living in the building were evacuated. The directorate said the rapid response and use of modern equipment prevented the fire from spreading to nearby areas.
No casualties or injuries were reported; damage was limited to material losses. Civil Defense teams completed cooling operations and launched an on-site investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Further details were not immediately available.
