Iraq records 1,876 injuries during Eid al-Adha, Health Ministry says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq’s Health Ministry said on Sunday that 1,876 injuries were recorded across the country during Eid al-Adha in a range of accidents. Ministry spokesman Saif al-Badr said 1,324 of the injuries were caused by traffic accidents, while 120 were linked to poisoning and 122 to drowning. He said 18 injuries were from drowning in water, 169 from burns, 28 from dangerous toys used by children and 55 from gunshot wounds. Al-Badr said health institutions were working under pre-prepared emergency plans and responded to all cases. The ministry said the injured received the necessary medical care.
