Iraq PM orders oil output raised to 10 million barrels per day by 2030

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zeydi has directed Iraq's Oil Ministry to raise daily crude production to about 10 million barrels by 2030, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Press Office. The instruction was issued during a meeting with senior ministry officials attended by the finance and oil ministers. Al-Zeydi said Iraq's output should be proportionate to its reserves, capacity and population, and called for upgrades to infrastructure and export capacity. He also ordered production to be increased at oil fields in the Kurdistan Region and for exploration activity to be expanded. The meeting reviewed the details of a strategic production plan covering the 2027–2030 period. In a separate directive, the Prime Minister ordered that associated gas extracted alongside oil be fully utilized to meet domestic energy demand and end gas imports. The Oil Ministry was instructed to prepare a comprehensive conference aimed at attracting major international oil companies for investment, expertise and technology, and to pursue contracts with them across exploration, production, development and export projects.
