Iraq begins disbursing September pensions for retired civil servants and military personnel

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq’s National Pension Authority has begun the staggered distribution of September 2026 pensions for retired civilian and military employees, the agency said. Retirees notified by text message can collect their payments at bank branches and electronic payment outlets in Baghdad and other cities. Earlier, an official source said funding for September pensions had not reached banks from the Ministry of Finance by midday, raising the possibility that payments could slip to Wednesday or Thursday. The source added that some ministries have not yet fully received August staff salaries, with disbursements being carried out in stages as financing and bank transfer procedures are completed. Distribution of August pensions is also continuing, pending the completion of funding procedures, the source said.
