BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's government has approved the posthumous promotion of two security personnel killed in the line of duty in the Doura district on the southern outskirts of Baghdad. The Security Media Cell said Prime Minister and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Ali Falih al-Zaydi signed two separate diwani orders carrying out the decision.
Under the orders, Brigadier General Hisham Mohammed Tellaa was promoted to the next higher rank, while officer Khalid Abbas Lifta was elevated to the rank of lieutenant. The Security Media Cell said the promotions were granted to honor the "blood and courageous sacrifice" of both men.
The statement added that the decision was taken in recognition of acts of bravery carried out while performing law enforcement and security duties. It also affirmed the Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief's commitment to continued support for the families of the fallen.
