BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq’s Oil Ministry said there is no gasoline shortage in Baghdad and other cities, despite heavy congestion at fuel stations driven by higher demand and rising temperatures. Ministry spokesman Sahib Buzun said normal and premium gasoline are available on the market. Buzun said daily consumption stands at 32 million liters and production is above that level. He said traffic at stations increased during the Eid holiday travel period and ahead of the upcoming Ghadir al-Khum pilgrimage. He also said hot weather has pushed up gasoline use because drivers are running vehicle air conditioners more often. Despite the ministry’s assurances, lines of vehicles were still reported at stations in Baghdad and some other cities.
