BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Electoral Commission announced on Tuesday that Bashar Amic Ismail Mkhalled al-Aqashi has been named as the replacement candidate for lawmaker Mohammed Nouri Ahmed. According to the commission's statement, al-Aqashi was listed third on the Tazeddin Party's ticket in Anbar province during the sixth parliamentary elections held in 2025, receiving 9,776 votes.
The commission said the designation clears the way for al-Aqashi to enter the Iraqi Parliament from the Tazeddin Party's list in place of Mohammed Nouri Ahmed. The statement did not specify the reason for the seat change.
Under electoral rules cited by the commission, al-Aqashi will assume the parliamentary seat once the legal process is completed. No further details were immediately available on the timeline for the transfer.
