JERUSALEM โ Israeli lawmaker Moshe Ridman, a member of the opposition Democratic Party in the Knesset, launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's wife Sara Netanyahu and son Yair Netanyahu, using harsh language against the premier's family.
Ridman noted that Sara Netanyahu pleaded guilty in 2019 to charges of bribery and of deliberately exploiting another person's mistake. He also alleged that she receives millions of shekels a year in private security protection.
The lawmaker described Yair Netanyahu as someone who does not work and benefits from free meals. His remarks came amid an ongoing debate over a security and protection request by former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot, whom Ridman said had not been granted protection despite threats to his life.
Ridman continued his broader criticism of the Netanyahu government, claiming Israel is approaching the end of the Netanyahu era. No immediate reaction from the Netanyahu family or government was reported.
