Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the Strait of Hormuz remains under the full control of its naval forces, after 25 vessels transited the waterway in the past 24 hours. The passage of ships through one of the world’s most strategic shipping lanes carries direct significance for oil and commercial traffic in the Gulf.
The vessels included oil tankers, container ships and other commercial vessels, according to the statement. It said the ships had obtained the required permissions before transiting.
The Guards said the vessels crossed the strait under security protection in coordination with the Iranian navy. The statement also said control over the strait has been maintained despite instability caused by U.S. military attacks in the area.
