Islamic Supreme Council President Sheikh Hammam Hamudi met with Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Waheb to discuss the ministry’s responsibilities and the difficulties facing Iraq amid the energy crisis. He congratulated the minister on the post and reviewed the government’s vision for addressing the problem.
The two sides stressed the need for state institutions to move toward long-term strategic planning instead of postponing crises. They also called for greater reliance on national experts in managing public affairs.
Hamudi said an institution’s ability to serve citizens and earn their trust should be the primary measure of ministerial performance. He said this standard should guide the assessment of the Electricity Ministry’s work.
He also expressed hope that the ministry would adopt new and appropriate mechanisms to confront rising electricity consumption during the summer months.
