Fire in four-story Baghdad building prompts evacuation of 12

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Civil defense teams in the Karkh district of Baghdad extinguished a fire that broke out in a four-story commercial-residential building in the Duwra area, the Baghdad Civil Defense Directorate said on Monday. The fire was caused by an electrical fault in the main power panel, according to the directorate. Firefighting and rescue teams were dispatched to the scene after the alert was received, the directorate said. Crews contained the flames and prevented the fire from spreading to surrounding structures. The Civil Defense Directorate said 12 people from different families were safely evacuated from the building and that the fire was fully extinguished. No casualties or injuries were reported.
