Electricity Minister Ali Saadi Wahib has ordered ministry teams to implement urgent technical and field measures in response to rising summer demand and limits on imported fuel supplies. The instructions include emergency maintenance work, tracking citizen complaints and removing illegal connections and excessive use on the power grid.
The plan also calls for the gradual return to service of some generating units and transmission lines. Wahib asked engineers and technicians to remain continuously in the field to improve coordination between the generation, transmission and distribution units.
The ministry said the move is aimed at helping keep electricity service more stable during the summer season. Wahib had previously ordered the creation of a central crisis cell in preparation for the summer of 2026 and the Erbain pilgrimage in Karbala.
