Baghdad Municipality Told to Cut Spending and Boost Revenue

Prime Minister Ali Zeydi met Baghdad Mayor Ammar Musa Kâzım and instructed the municipality to pursue a policy that reduces spending while increasing revenues, as authorities look to improve services in the capital. The meeting focused on Baghdad’s service conditions, completed projects, ongoing infrastructure works and the obstacles slowing operations.
Zeydi stressed the need to complete infrastructure projects and raise the quality of public services to provide better support for residents. He said the municipality should remove barriers that disrupt work and accelerate delivery across the capital.
He also highlighted the importance of financial discipline in strengthening municipal resources and supporting sustainable development. The remarks placed fiscal management alongside service delivery as a key priority for Baghdad’s local administration.
