Eight killed in separate incidents in Iraq's Dhi Qar province

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Eight people died or were injured in separate incidents in the southern Iraqi province of Dhi Qar on Tuesday, according to security sources. A security official said a member of the security forces was killed by electrocution from a water pump at his home in the Sayyid Dahi district, east of Nasiriya. His body was transferred to the forensic medicine department. On the Nasiriya–Jubayshe road, one person was killed and four others were injured in a collision between two vehicles, the official said. The fatality was sent to the forensic medicine department, while the injured were taken to the nearest health facility. In a separate incident, two young men under the age of 20 drowned while attempting to swim in the Jebishe River north of Nasiriya, according to the same source. Both bodies were delivered to the forensic medicine department. No further details were immediately available.
