DIYALA, Iraq โ Authorities in Diyala have lifted high-level security alerts at 16 religious sites and shrines following the conclusion of the Eid al-Adha holiday. Ahmed al-Rubeyi, an official with the Department of Religious Shrines, confirmed that multi-layered security cordons have been removed and administrative operations have returned to normal.
Al-Rubeyi reported that visitor numbers during the holiday reached their highest levels in years. He noted that the period concluded without any security incidents, citing stable conditions and flexible management as contributing factors.
The department is now preparing a new security plan for upcoming Ghadir Khum commemorations. Officials stated they expect a high volume of visitors from across the province to participate in these events.
