Iraq, EBRD discuss cooperation on development projects in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Finance Minister Falah Sari met on Tuesday in Baghdad with Katarina Björlin Hansen, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s representative in Iraq, to discuss financial and technical cooperation and development priorities, the ministry said. Sari said the ministry is continuing efforts to improve efficiency in the management of public funds and direct resources toward the productive and development sectors. He said supporting development projects in the provinces remains among the ministry’s priorities, especially by facilitating agricultural projects and infrastructure work. Hansen said the bank continues to support efforts to strengthen Iraq’s economic and financial structure. She said the bank has programs in energy, water, banking support and private-sector financing.
