Basra Drug Raid Leaves Two Security Personnel Wounded

Security forces in Basra carried out operations against networks involved in drug trafficking, detaining seven suspects in two separate raids and seizing nearly half a kilogram of narcotics and weapons. Two security personnel were wounded in the firefight and taken to hospital, where their condition was reported to be good. In the first operation, security forces raided an address in the Baba al-Huwaydi area of Shatt al-Arab district and detained two people. A second operation in Zubair district led to the arrest of five more suspects. Among those detained was a fugitive wanted in connection with seven murder cases. The raids were part of a wider security move against drug trafficking networks in the province.
