TRIONDA, the official ball for the 2026 World Cup, will be equipped with a motion sensor to support the VAR system during the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada from 11 June to 19 July 2026. The competition will be played for the first time with 48 teams. The sensor placed inside the ball is said to record data 500 times per second, allowing every touch to be tracked in real time. The technology is designed to improve the accuracy of officiating and provide additional support to video review. The ballโ€™s sensor-enabled structure also makes it rechargeable, with a battery life of about six hours. That design adds another layer of technology to a tournament already expected to showcase expanded match-officiating tools. Priced at around 130 pounds, the ball was described as one of the most expensive in World Cup history.
